Student Ministries

About Us

As First Covenant Church lives into its vision to “Love God, and Love Neighbor”, we have committed to “invest in our youth and growing their relationship with Christ.”

Students in Junior and Senior High are invited to participate weekly in X-Road’s and Hi-League, as well as various activities put on by the Youth Christian Formation Team. Additionally, students at FCC are invited to participate in the full life of the congregation. This includes, but is not limited to, participating in Mission Trips, joining (or facilitating) Covenant Groups, and serving on Foundation Teams!

As FCC Student Ministries seeks to integrate and participate in the full life of First Covenant Church, it has also committed to the following initiatives:

  • ENGAGE in relationship with Jesus Christ, and others. (1 Thessalonians 2:8)
  • EQUIP ourselves through Prayer, Scripture, and Discipleship. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
  • EMBARK on an outward mission and lives of invitation. (Matthew 28:16-20)

Sunday Morning Formation

Students are invited to join us on Sunday mornings for an intentional time of Christian Formation as we explore topics of scripture, faith, and life together! Depending on the season, we may meet as a combined group for all 6th-12th grade students, or we may be divided into Middle and High School classes. At times, we have even sent Students to participate in formation classes alongside the adults of the church during this time. In all these ways, our desire is to be faithful to our commitment to EQUIP our students though prayer, scripture, and discipleship.

    Midweek

All Students, 6th-12th grade, are invited us on Wednesday evenings for our Midweek program! Middle School students are encouraged to attend from 6:30-8:00 p.m. and High School students are encouraged to attend from 7:30-9:00 p.m., with both groups combined for the overlap from 7:30-8:00 p.m. Our time together at Midweek centers around free time, games, devotions, and small groups as we desire to be faithful to our commitment to provide space for students to ENGAGE in relationship with Jesus Christ and others. Midweek also serves as the launching pad for our students to EMBARK on outward mission and lives of invitation. From June through August we will participate in the Wednesday Night Summer Barbques from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. and use this time to connect with our church community.

    Confirmation

The focus of Confirmation is twofold. First, students have an opportunity to learn the truths of the Christian faith, through the stories of the Bible, and through the ongoing work of the church. Second, students have an opportunity to develop discipling relationships with pastors, mentors and parents. The focus is not only to learn what the Bible says, but to commune with God through the Word and through mentoring relationships. Both are for the purpose of developing a growing relationship with Christ and helping students learn to articulate what they believe about the Bible’s message, and how faith in Christ translates into living out God’s will in the world.

At FCC the Confirmation Program runs as a 12-week program congruent to both Sunday Formation and Midweek. Students in either their 7th, 8th, or 9th grade year are welcome to make the decision to be Confirmed and to join us on Wednesday evenings from 5:00 -6:00 p.m. to explore questions of discipleship and to prepare for Confirmation Sunday.

The Confirmation Program runs once yearly in the weeks leading up to Confirmation Sunday the first weekend of May. To get signed up or for more information, please contact Pastor Coby.
